Vehicle Prep - Outfitting the Vehicle:
Once servicing was complete, we shifted attention to the extensive modifications necessary to prepare our 80 for the grueling conditions that lay ahead. Below you will find a detailed list of the major modifications made to the vehicle.

Security and Body Protection:
ARB Winch Bull Bar: Replaces Toyota OE bumper and provides additional frontal protection for radiator, lights, and body. Also provides jack and tow points.

Alarm System: Replaced existing alarm and immobilizer with simple alarm and remote fuel cut-off switch.

Recovery Equipment:
Warn Tabor Winch: 9,000 lbs. Winch mounted on ARB Winch Bull Bar.

48’ Hi Lift Jack: Mounted on top of bull bar.

Mantec Aluminum Sand Tracks: Mounted on roof racks.

Expedition Shovel: Mounted on side of roof racks.

Recovery Bag with Assorted Gear: ARB Kinetic Recovery Strap, gloves, (8) shackles.

ViAir Air Compressor: Mounted under hood

Electrical System:
National Luna Split Charge System: Installed split charge battery management system and Optima Yellow Top deep cycle battery with 300w inverter and a total of (6) additional power outlets – (4) 12V and (2) UK standard household sockets. System will provide power for “leisure items” like refrigerator, laptop computer, and fluorescent lighting.

Vehicle Lighting:
(2) Hella 4000 Compact Circular Spotlights: Installed

(2) 130W spots on ARB Bull Bar:
to provide additional driving lights.

(2) ARB Adventure Lights: Two portable fluorescent lights for general use around vehicle.

Wheels and Tires:
(6) New Michelin XZL Mud Tires: Replaced existing tires with size 235/85/R16 XZL’s. Set includes (2) spares. Note: added (1) additional Toyota steel rim for second spare.

Kaymar Chassis Mounted Spare Wheel Carrier: Installed LH swing away spare wheel carrier on back OE bumper. Second spare moved from under vehicle to roof rack.

Raised Air Intake/Breathers:
Safari Snorkel: Raised air intake.

Raised Transmission Breathers: Breathers installed with breather lines connecting into raised air intake.

Suspension:
Old Man Emu Heavy Suspension: Replaced existing suspension with OME front/rear heavy springs and shocks and new OME steering damper and caster kit. Created approximately 2 inches of additional lift.

Storage:
Hannibal 2.3 Meter Roof Rack

Africa Outback Drawer System: Locking drawer system installed in cargo area for storage of food, cookware, etc.

(7) Storm Cases: Waterproof Storm Cases of various sizes for storage of expedition gear.

Cargo Barrier: Custom designed by Matt Savage to provide buffer between passenger cabin and cargo area.

Tuffy Series II Center Console: Replaced existing console with lockable steel center security console:

Tent/Awning:
Eezi Awn 1.4m Roof Tent: Mounted permanently to roof racks with ground ladder and shower skirt.

Hannibal 7’ Awning: Mounted permanently to roof racks.

Long Range Fuel Tanks:
Long Ranger LR Fuel Tank: Mounted second 35 gallon fuel tank in spare tire compartment under vehicle. Increased total fuel capacity to 60 gallons (plus 2 additional 20 liter jerry cans).

(2) Scepter Fuel Jerry Cans: Mounted (2) 20 liter spare fuel jerry cans on roof rack.

Water:
(6) Scepter Water Jerry Cans: Mounted (6) 20 liter water cans inside vehicle.

Brownchurch Water Purification System: Ceramic filtration system with electric pump.

Twine Hot Shower System: Warms water by circulating it through radiator.

Cooking:
Engel 40L Refrigerator: Mounted behind driver’s seat.

Gas Cooker: Gas cooker and fuel bottle mounted in rear of vehicle.
